The Niagara Falls festival of lights is not to be missed. It runs this year from November 9, 2013 to January 31, 2014. Three million lights are illuminated from 5:00pm till 12:00am every night with fireworks over the falls every Friday until January 31, 2014.
This year our family will attend the much talked about annual opening ceremonies for the lights on Saturday November 15, 2014. These ceremonies will be terrific with an outdoor stage show in Queen Victoria Park - that is the one at the bottom of Murray Hill, just beneath the Skylon Tower.
The lighting ceremony begins at 2:00pm with with children's activities, entertainment, sports, ice sculpting and more. Be sure not to miss the Niagara Symphony Orchestra performing to the longest ever fireworks display over the falls at 7:45pm
The people in charge of the Niagara Falls Festival of Lights warn that this is a rain/snow or shine event. So bring your hot chocolate and lawn chairs. Some years they bring in bleachers for the event, but it is hit and miss so bring your lawn chairs and hot chocolate. One very nice thing is Tim Horton's is across the street now.
Parking will not be cheap on this night. There are many places to park like across from Table Rock, or in the Skylon Tower Niagara Falls A lot. If that lot is full the Skylon Tower Niagara Falls parking lot B will save you some money. Find out where to find the Skylon Parking lot. Parking is also located under the casino on Murray Hill.
The lighting ceremony for the Festival of Lights Niagara Falls is sure to be a great one for the whole family. A clear cool night would be perfect, hope to see you there.
